Book short discription
Yet another book on the fascinating subject of breathing. What is it that makes this one unique, and why should you read it?
Experience: I’m an old-timer who had the privilege of being introduced to yoga and yogic breathing techniques at a very young age. Since then, I’ve been dedicated to daily practice for over fifty years. The book is a summary of my experiments, understandings, and conclusions.
Versatility: I’ve lived an exceptionally diversified life, and it’s reflected in the book. Served as a paratrooper in the military, educated as an electrical engineer, was a street performer, busking for more than ten years as a musician and magician to make a living, and started a business for admission control products, which I ran for twenty-five years.
Horizons: as the years ticked by, my interest in breathing expanded, leading me to explore different modalities far beyond the classic yogic ones.
Questioning: Doubting aspects of conventional practices and suggesting adaptations for people with exceptional breathing profiles are an important part of this book.
Novelties: No promises of surefire techniques that you’ve never heard of, but you will definitely be introduced to unconventional approaches and unexpected applications.
Focus: Most techniques in the book zoom in on how to act in present situations, here and now; far less on future good health or improved physical performance. These are also covered, but to a lesser extent; the spotlight is on real-time breathing responses to a wide variety of circumstances.
Combinations: You’ll read about methods for combining personally effective breathing techniques into practical tools that can assist you in everyday situations and also during extreme events.
Evaluation: To verify whether a suggested tool is personally effective, you’ll be introduced to methods for testing through self-observation of inner bodily sensations, such as analyzing images “seen” with eyes closed (eigengrau), mouth feelings, skin tingling, and others.
Accuracy and comprehensibility: Explanations of how and why suggested techniques affect the body are presented through a scientific lens and are mostly separated, with an option for the reader to skip the science and read the highlights at the end of the segment instead.
Humor: Serving whatever with a pinch of humor makes it far more digestible. Plunging into the book, you’ll encounter plenty of breath-related humor that should tickle your funny bone.
So join me on this breathing journey, which should make your everyday life slightly less stressful and much more manageable, all with plenty of smiling.
