Rib cage flexibility
The following exercises are for slowing down the loss of rib cage scaffolding flexibility and strengthening the rib cage muscles.
Straitjacket breathing
In this exercise, I replicate a straitjacket effect by embracing myself and intentionally limiting my lung expansion. With my hands tightly embracing my upper body, the self-hugging creates resistance, making it challenging to inflate my chest cavity fully. This resistance strengthens my rib cage and chest-breathing muscles, helping maintain rib-cage flexibility. When exhaling, I deflate deeply using my abdominal muscles.
Gorilla pounding
In this exercise, I gently hit my rib cage with my fists. The pounding shakes my lungs and stimulates my ribcage.
